Can I use the University of Illinois (U of I, UIUC) library with my Parkland ID?
Answer
Absolutely! And even better, you can return UIUC books to the Main Desk at Parkland Library, and we'll see that they get back to UIUC. There are some exceptions to what you can check out, but generally if a book is in the stacks of whichever library you're searching, you can check it out.
Parkland and the University of Illinois are members of a state-wide library consortium called I-Share. At this time, I-Share has 94 member libraries scattered throughout Illinois. You can borrow books in person at I-Share libraries using your Parkland ID card, but it's usually easier to request them online through your Parkland Library account. Items not held in Parkland Library may be available from another institution using an Interlibrary Loan Request.
Once your request has been delivered you will receive an email letting you know we are holding your item(s). To pick them up ask at the Main Desk for items held under your last name, and show your Parkland ID.
